Wednesdays Flowers

This week I have used some fabrics that were given to me by my aunt who has since passed away . Aunt Mammie as we called her was an avid sewer and made lots and lots of aprons as well as dolls galore for the church sales and these fabrics would all have been used for that purpose . I did already make a quilt using some of her fabrics and gave it to my parents a few years back but made sure that my aunt got to see it before she left us and she was thrilled that her scraps had a new life in a quilt , I used the nine patch along with the snowball block if my memory is correct and I because most fabrics were like these small calico prints with flowers I named it Mammies Garden , I must see if I have a picture of that somewhere to share it with you . My aunt was a very special lady and I am thinking I will make a few more with her fabrics and make something special from just those hexies to remind me of her . Happy gardening everyone and thanks for stopping by.

  5. What a wonderful treasure! I love those fabrics, so rich and vibrant. Making something with just those hexies made from your aunt's fabric will be such a great reminder of just how special your aunt was to you. I, too, would love to see a photo of "Mammie's Garden" if you find it!
