I knew when ever that first basket was posted by Temecula Quilt Co. I had to take part in their quilt along , what to use was my first question , aha more of the Louisa scraps , can I make it with those I wondered , well I was determined to give it a try , I mean what did I have to loose right ;-) So I sewed along each week of March and had all my baskets ready for the last step of sewing them all together . The layout instructions were posted and I immediately started cutting my sashings and set in triangles as well as the corner triangles , when I went to sew them together I knew something was wrong and sure enough there was another post telling us not to cut yet , the triangles were not correct , oh yikes , panic set in as I was not so sure I had enough to redo . I knew for sure I did not have a10" piece of fabric so took a 10" piece of paper , cut that apart into four sections and used that as my template , luckily for me I had just enough width of the scraps left so with turning the triangle one way then the other I was able to cut the necessary triangles for the set in triangles and was happy to discover the first set of set in triangles I had cut fit as the outside corner triangles so I commenced the piecing process and I just love this little quilt that I consider free as my Louisa quilt was a kit and I have now made the full size quilt as well as two minis and I do think there is another mini in that container , I think it must be breeding ;-) So here is my version of the Blessings mini Quilt.
Because my baskets were very scrappy I did rearrange the baskets a little to make it more pleasing to me . I am really pleased with this sweet little quilt and will bind it with the red in the basket in the lower left corner because I have the most of that .
Now for the first time I have decided to take part in Macro Monday , Wendy suggested I do so after seeing my cactus photos last week .I do love taking photos and was playing around with my camera and here are a few macro shots I took this morning . This is another cactus that is now blooming and as you can see the color is a much stronger pink ,beautiful .
Another photo I have taken with my macro setting is this sweet little flower , I can't tell you the name of the plant , I had this outside in the summer and took it in and placed it on my window sill not expecting it to bloom again but it has blessed me with this single little group of flowers.
So cute don't you think. I am linking up today to http://lisaschaos.com/ , stop by and see some amazing photography . Thanks so much for stopping by and have yourself a wonderful day .
hugs Sheila
