This morning I finished step #3 of the mystery quilt by Kaaren of the Painted Quilt . I changed out the dresdans for the flying birds block . I am not sure I like the way I have them orientated but will think on that and possibly change their direction . I had some difficutly with the template for the dresdans so rather than frustrate myself I decided on this block .
What do you think , should I change them ??
So the decision has been made I am changing the corner blocks and have just made on block so far but this is what it will look like with a churn dash block . Thanks for the input ladies it is always good to ask for help :-)
I must run right now so thanks for stopping by and hope you have a terrific day .
Hugs Sheila
Hmmm..I wonder if the corner blocks might look better with the birds flying the other way? Could you experiment with just one to see if you like it better? Otherwise, I'm LOVING this quilt!!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great looking top. I agree with Sunny in that I think the corner birds might look better going the other direction.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your son.
Happy Birthday, Rob! Your quilt top is coming alum very nicely, Sheila. I think I'd try turning the corner blocks, too.XO
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your son! Love the way your quilt is growing, and I would probably turn the birds too. How big is it now?
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Rob. Love the quilt top.Yes i'd turn the corner blocks too. Hugs,xx
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, Rob! You know, I would wait until the next border row is released to see what to put in the corners - you might stick with what you have done, or perhaps change it again.
ReplyDeleteHello Sheila, your quilt is looking lovely and I like the new look churn dash block in the corner. Happy birthday to your son! Christine x
ReplyDeleteYour mystery quilt is coming nicely. I don't want to fiddle with the dresdans either and like either of your alternative blocks. You could wait to see what the next step is and then decide which fits.
ReplyDeleteI do like the flying geese corner blocks but I do agree, they need to turn the other way. But I do feel the churn dash blocks will also work. Perhaps follow Vrooman's advice and see what comes next before changing over.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful pic of Rob, He sure looks like he enjoys being a member of the RCMP. We are lucky to have him in that roll. Your quilt is looking great Sheila. I would like to see what a pin wheel block would like in the corner.... just another thought. I see some of the other comments suggest to wait and see what the next round might be before you decide that might be good advice as well. I think the quilt will be lovely no matter what the choice is. Each one will have it's own personality and charm.

I'm with Sunny too Sheila - my first thought when I saw it was that the corner blocks should fly the other way! But I like the churn dash too. Happy Birthday to Rob. xx
