WIP Wednesday

It is a wet and wild Wednesday , drizzling rain and very windy NOT my kind of day . However I do have a few WIP to report on this week , first off I already posted about the Tisket a Tasket quilt being finished , yeah! Then anyone who has been following me for a while would remember all the crazy patch blocks I made over the last year plus , well yesterday I decided it was time to start sewing a few of those together . I had a total of 30  of what I would call lighter shades so that is where I started my sewing and this is what it looked like last night.
As you can see I still had two rows to sew on but this morning I did get those on ,now I do have a dilemma here as I have 20 darker shade blocks and I am trying to decide whether to add them all around the outside or make a separate quilt , I would need to make at least another 10 ,no it would work out to be more than that but that is not a problem I quite enjoy making these blocks but would love your opinion on what to do , I could also just add a border to this existing quilt what do you think ? Here is a picture of the blocks surrounding this inner section.
What would you do ?
I am also working on my Row by Row Christmas quilt , making slow progress but this is how it  looks right now , I have finished all of the mittens, the cute little penguins and started on the reindeer and oh the santas are also finished , I am quilting this with embroidery floss , no frame just over my lap , a little challenging really but I just cant use a hoop ,never know where to put my hands and I do not own a quilt frame , so far this is working out well.

I have another challenge I can not quite figure out , what is it you say , maybe you can help , oh that would be wonderful. I am taking part in the Stay at Home Round Robin and have the first two parts complete and the next part is to add a log cabin border to the block I have made that is on point. The block is 23 inches at the moment, I actually was mulling this around in my head all night and think I have an idea but not so sure it will work so if anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it. Here is my block so far I have shown this before .
If you will notice the new little icon on the right side bar for a BOM with the cute little pumpkin, well I have also started that and here is my progress so far , I am really wondering what happens to this pumpkin as it is not attached to anything ,
Blogger is being a little weird today so I am having some issues with photos , oh well I am not complaining .
I am linking up today to The Needle and Thread Network  and Lee's Freshly Pieced , do check it out there are some amazingly creative people linking up there .
Thanks for stopping by and have yourself a wonderful day . hugs Sheila

  1. Oh I love the mittens!!! One thing Sheila - your link at the Needle & Thread network goes to an older post and not this one. Want to link up again with the newer URL? You won't be able to delete the old link, but that's okay. I can do that later if the new one works out.

  3. Sheila, I LOVE how the light colored crazy blocks look together. I think that I would maybe just add a border to them, and then use the darker blocks in another quilt.

All of your projects are so cute. That Christmas quilt looks adorable, and the little pumpkin is pretty cute, too. Can't wait to see what happens with it as you progress through the pattern!

Well...rainy, blustery days are good for staying in and sewing, so enjoy the day! :o)

  4. I'd be interested to see what happens to the pumpkin too. That darker outside border on your crazy quilt is very effective. Have fun with your row by row. It looks like a fun project.

  7. The penguins are so cute! I'm not normally a fan of crazy patch blocks, but yours all look super fun together. :)

I think the darker shade blocks would make a nice quilt on their own. I like the little fussy cut centers that I can see!

  8. I guess I never go with popular opinion. I like the dark blocks set as a border to the lighter ones. Don't feel bad...I'm having trouble deciding on my next row for the Stay at Home Robin too. But I love the pumpkin block and am planning on making that BOM too.

  9. The crazy patch blocks look great but i'd add a plain border rather than the dark blocks. Make them into something else. The Row by Row is looking great. Love the pumpkin. Hugs,

  10. love your crazy patch blocks. I am not very adventurous and would just add a border and use the darker ones for another top. Perhaps you could make a back with the darker blocks and have a reversable quilt? two for the price of one?
    Great going on your quilting!

  13. There is so much inspiration.. so glad to see the Crazy blocks coming together... I like the idea of a darker border but in a 'restful' fabric and then use your other blocks for another quilt... or a back (I do love an interesting back) I do admire hand quilting... I don't know how to explain but I think the round robin log cabin would look lovely with the corners of the points with the logs....

  14. I like the dark crazy blocks surrounding the light. I would personally use them all in the same quilt. Unless you have a need for 2 quilts. I assume this will be bed sized? Or at least big enough to snuggle under while sitting on the sofa?

  26. Wow, Sheila, you have some fun quilting projects going! I like the darker border that you put around the crazy blocks. It looks super. I think your idea of a log cabin border on your other block would look great. You could echo the colors and have fun with it. Stay dry and enjoy your neat quilt projects!

  31. I just love those crazy patch blocks. Wow! I am behind on my Stay at Home Robin, too. I'd forgotten the next round will have log cabins. You have a lot of great things on your post today.

  32. Sorry I'm a little late on this one. I'd be tempted to just say NO to the log cabin border, and do a crazy border!!!!! It is YOUR quilt, after all.

  33. I am too late as well but I have to say I absolutely love love love the way your crazy quilt looked with the darker crazy patches bordering them. I know you have it finished and chose another route, but I have to say my vote would have been for the dark "crazies".

  34. I LOVE the penguins and mittens! What a great idea. It would take me all year to do something like that, but I'd sure like to try it.
