Miss Witchy number two has been completed ,although the Fons and Porter pattern doesn't call for her to have anything other than the eyes I did give this gal a smile :-)I think these are so cute I may just have to make one more .
Today is also Crazy Quilting Friday hosted by Betsy and if anyone is interested in joining us in making these crazy blocks you really should head on over here and sign up , they are really fun to make and a great way to use up those scraps . This week I made mine just a little larger and didn't add any lace or even any decorative stitches although I do plan on doing that ,this one I think will be made into a fall needle case for me , I have a couple of needle cases but I want one with larger pockets to put my scissors, thimble , needles etc . into for my Tuesday quilting sessions , the one I am presently using I find the pockets are not deep enough and things tend to fall out so it is time to see what I can come up with that will solve that problem .These fabrics are all scraps left from a log cabin runner I made a few years back .I see the colors are not real true , this camera seems to be making things too light lately and I am technologically challenged when it comes to cameras so have no idea how to rectify that .
It is another dull dreary day here on the east coast but no rain yet .Hope the sun is shining where ever you are and that you have a super nice day . Until next time thanks for stopping by .

Look what the postman brought me !
Yesterday was not an overly great day for me so it was such a delight to have this package arrive in the mail from Rhiannon for our colour swap exchange which was arranged by Lisa at Lydia's Treasures .The top picture shows them all wrapped up and tied with the softest wool , hmm wonder what is inside ? Well it was with much anticipation that I opened each little package to discover what could be inside and I was certainly not disappointed . I started with the smaller packages and found some fridge magnets , a sweet little crocheted flower pin , a notepad with blue peacocks and jar of blue buttons , Oh I should have told you my colour was blue but you probably could guess that ;-) ; so back to my wonderful parcel , there was also some fat quarters in two shades of blue , some lace and rickrack , a sweet little crocheted runner and finally the softest , warmest crocheted scarf oh my it is so nice and will keep me so cosy this winter I just love it !!! Thanks so much Rhiannon I appreciate all that you sent and all your creative efforts . Now I know you are all probably jealous of my goodies ;-) Thanks for stopping by .

Finishes
I didn't want to post these earlier as they were part of a colour swap exchange through Lydia's Treasures and my exchange partner was Rhiannon .I didn't take pictures of what I had given her but she has posted it here on her blog .The little wallet could qualify for the zipper challenge this month with Jenny here . The bag is a free design by Jenny and was part of the Gumtree designers birthday celebration . So that gives me two more finishes for this month , yeah!

Tuesdays Treasures and a Finish
For this weeks Tuesdays Treasures hosted by Clare I would like to share two of my favorite antique sewing machines , I have several but these two are perhaps my favorites .The one on the left is a Singer 99k which I believe they say is the same as the featherweight except it is in the case and doesn't have the bed that lifts up , the one on the right is an old toy sewing machine that my dear hubby bought for me at a flea market a few years back and the lady who was selling it told him her mother made her Christening gown on it , hard to believe but that is the story ,it is so precious and does work as does the 99 K .
Then we have my finish for today , this cute little wall hanging is called "Miss Witchy "and is a pattern from the most recent Fons and Porter magazine .I have made two so far but the second one needs to be quilted and bound , I wanted this one completed as we were babysitting yesterday for our two granddaughters so together we hung this up for the upcoming Halloween season. They thought it was really cute and even Elise who is just two said "I like it Gammie" .Nila's reaction was "Wow that is great , where should we put her?" We spent an absolutely wonderful day with the girls and to tell you the truth that is also a Treasure , one of the best kind !

Crazy Quilting Friday
Here is my block for this week , a little slow getting it made but I am pleased with the way it turned out . These batiks were very small scraps I had from another project so they are narrow but we got the area covered so that is a good thing ;-0 The lace is very old ,
I know it is antique lace that I had bought at an auction in with other sewing notions years ago and at that time I glued it to the edge of shelves in a cabinet and when we moved I took it off , it is not in the best of shape along the edge but it doesn't show being sewn in here so it now has a new life :-)
Another rainy day here in Nova Scotia , we will need to start building a boat if this keeps up . Have a great day and thanks for stopping by .

Tuesdays Treasures
Today it is with great pride and love that I share this picture of my parents for my Tuesdays Treasures .This picture was taken on their 60th anniversary and I love this picture , it speaks volumes .Forgive me for the poor quality of the picture , I tried to take it from different angles but the glare from the glass just won't work any better than this and I don't have the print on my computer .
Love you Mom and Dad!! If you'd like to see even more Tuesdays Treasures head on over to visit with Clare and she can tell you who is playing along this week ,I'll be around a little later to see what everyone is sharing as I am off to the church to quilt now , have a really wonderful day . Thanks for stopping by .

Another finish
It feels so good to have finished this wall hanging in time for the fall season . I have this on the wall temporarily with pins so that is why you can see some wrinkles , DH was not home when I wanted to take the picture so this was my solution . I must say it is larger than I expected but that is fine I am pleased with the results. It feels very much like fall today , rather dreary again and rather cool too ,I am ready for some sunshine . Have yourself a great day and thanks for stopping by.

Now this is Cooperation
I think the world would be so much better if we could all get along as well as these finches do , isn't this just the perfect picture of cooperation , I have at times counted as many as 15 on this one feeder , can't say much for the other niger seed feeder beside it , it is full yet they don't want to use it ,strange indeed . The finches are now all turned to their winter plummage of dull gray with just a few left with some of the bright yellow still showing through . I so enjoy watching the birds and it wasn't easy to get this picture as they move at the slightest movement from us ,this feeder is just outside our patio door so we watch them from our dining room table and it is a special treat :-)

Nasty Skies
We have had some real nasty rain storms here lately and this sky is an indication of what is about to happen , we had severe thunder and lightening just after this picture with lots of heavy rain and today it is still raining , not heavy but a steady drizzle so things are staying nice and green out over the field next to us .

Crazy Quilting Friday
This week I am a wee bit late posting this , why you ask , well I had to make it this morning as I didn't have time yesterday ;-) I have a couple of these little tea cups and thought they were perfect for the center of the block and I just worked from there , the lace I wish you could see it a little better as it is just gorgeous , I obviously rescued it from a blouse as it was still sewn together and part of the fabric was attached , it is so delicate and pretty . I have a little tiny piece left so will use that at another time . Thanks for stopping by and won't you have a cup of tea with me :-)

A finish for September
I have no flowers to report this week , I did manage to get a few ready to sew but no stitching took place :-( I did however finish off this little stitchery for fall , a pattern designed by Kaaren at The Painted Quilt, this was a Friday Freebie last year and I had printed it off with full intention of doing it then but , well you know how it is the best intentions don't always work out . I just have this resting against a basket in my kitchen and it just may stay there for the fall season . Now to finish my other fall project ;-) I hope you all have a great day and for those hexie gardeners out there I promise to get some made for next week . Thanks for stopping by.

Good bye Earl
Yesterday we got pounded with the force of Earl , thankfully by the time he reached our shores he was downgraded to a Tropical storm so although there were lots of power outages no major damage other than trees being toppled . The wind was rather fierce for a few hours and the rain came in sheets and we lost our power from around mid morning to 10 last evening which is no big deal when you don't have to worry about keeping warm ;-) So...... what does a person do on a day like yesterday , well if you know me you would know I hate to have idle hands but without power my options were limited and since I am not a real great Girl Scout with things prepared I had to come up with a plan . I had been thinking about this little stitchery pattern by Kaaren at The Painted Quilt , I knew I had printed it off and it was somewhere but where ? Well I did manage to find it and then since I couldn't use my light box to trace it, the patio door did the trick and after it was all traced I sat down in a comfortable spot and started stitching , the light was not the best but I did manage to get a little done and it helped to fill in time while Earl hung around . Thanks to Kaaren I had something to do :-) Have a great day and hope the sun is shining where ever you are .
