It is Wednesday again so that means WIP Wednesday when we give a little report on our activity for the week ,if you check the previous post you will see the seven blocks I made for the Red ,White and Blue Blog Hop and be sure to enter into my little giveaway as well. This hop is quite inspirational so check the icon on my sidebar and it will take you to Jane's Fabrics where she has a list of those participating in the hop , you won't want to miss out on the fun .
I finished off the lemonade block yesterday and it is a cute little mug rug , perfect for a hot day in July ;-) .
Blog hops can be addictive and I signed up for the Think Christmas hop hosted by none other than Lesley of the Cuddle Quilter and Madamm Samm ,so... I am busy making some red, white and green blocks for this up and coming hop ,stay tuned for July 30-August 3 for some Christmas goodness. Here is a sneak peak .
For those who have been following me for a while you will possibly recognize this piece , it is a portion of my Stay at Home Round Robin which was hosted by Sunny of Quilting Dreams, well this has been on my design wall for a long time and it has been bothering me so a few days ago I started frog stitching .
I just was not happy with the acorns at the end of the stem so have removed all but this one.
It is a little challenging getting them off but I am almost there and then I have to think of a solution for this area and finish off this project.
It was a great day mail wise , I received not one but three postcards and another a few days ago .The first three are from an exchange with the theme of mini beach quilts.
This one if from Monika in Sask., cute huh!
This is amazing , this is all pieced , such tiny perfect little pieces from Regina in Quebec.
This one is from Mary Anne in Ontario and depicts the beach , water and the quilt , so cute and I love her border treatment.
This final postcard was a random card sent from Heather also from Ontario , and it arrived just in time for Canada Day , isn't it fabulous !
I am linking up today to the Needle and Thread Network ,be sure to stop by and see what others have done this week and thanks so much for stopping by .

It's Red ,White and Blue Time !
Day No.3 has finally arrived of the Red , White and Blue Blog Hop with our host Jane and our inspiration Madamme Samm . I was quick to sign up when I read the post as I love the red ,white and blue combination so my little old head was spinning with ideas and here is what I came up with . I had a certain color red that I wanted to use but my stash was limited so I had to plan carefully .
For some reason these colors make me think of summer and when I think of summer I think of whirligigs and pinwheels , this block is called Autumn and is by Minick and Simpson for Moda Fabrics .
This is of course a double pinwheel , a little simple but I think the quilting in the red would make it lovely.'
Still in the pinwheel category is this next block .
This one resulted from several extra triangles being cut and I think it is a fun block.
How about a whirligig in a little summery combination :-)
This block as well as the above block came from a calendar of quilt blocks and this one is part of the Happy Days Quilt but guess what, it is called the Depression block , go figure , however I like the movement in this one.
My final block is called Carrie Nation and is from the book Around the Block with Judy Hopkins , I was really running out of both the blue and the red by this time .
Here are all six blocks together on my old fence door .
I love the old iron hinges on this door and thought it might be the perfect place to take some photos . I haven't decided what to do with these blocks yet , any suggestions ? I bet you are wondering how I kept these blocks on the gate , well a little removable adhesive putty did the trick ;-)
A last minute addition is this block which I will make into a mug rug , just perfect for the hot days of summer , anyone for a glass of lemonade or perhaps a glass of ice tea ? You can find the pattern here by Cynthia.
Now no Blog Hop would be complete without a giveaway so I took some time on Saturday to make this market tote , being summer and all and the number of farmers markets around I thought a tote just might be handy . If you would like to win please leave a comment and tell me your favorite part of summer .I will draw a name on July 17th giving everyone time to visit all the blogs in the hop so be sure you leave an email address I can contact you with if you are a no reply blogger.
The tote is completely reversible and of course washable 100% cotton , thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to hop on over to the others participating today, the list is below and also for the master list for the rest of the hop ,our hostess Jane has placed an icon on her sidebar , have fun :-)
Hugs Sheila

June FMQ
I am late I know but I wanted to post my FMQ for the month of June , thanks to Sew Cal Gal for hosting this each month and providing us with such amazing teachers. This month it was Cindy Needham , she gave a great tutorial which was very helpful and although my stitching is far from perfect I think I got what this lesson was trying to teach us , control , I enjoyed the process and am ok with my results but realize that they could be so ..... much better with practice.
Here is a close up of the top section where I tried to fill in the small areas , challenging for sure but kind of fun too. I know I am brave to even show you these very imperfect stitches but this is all about learning right ;-)
It is a hot summer day today , the warmest so far this season , I won't complain as we have been waiting a long time for this to happen . Thanks for stopping by and hope you are enjoying your weekend.

WIP Wednesday
Its that time of the week again , I have a few things in progress some of which I can not share just yet but I did make this little sundress for my granddaughter today ,I had some fabric left from a dress I made for another granddaughter so figured I might as well make another , this is a slightly different pattern and I sure hope it fits as I have not seen Sophia in over a year and a half and of course she has grown a lot since then .
Simple little dress with ties at the shoulders , I do love this print :-)
Have you noticed the new icons on my sidebar , well I am taking part in the Red ,White and Blue Blog Hop July1-8th and you can click on the icon and see the schedule of those participating , my day is July 3rd so I have been busy making lots of blocks to share with you , here is just a little sneak peak .Be sure to check the list of participants and did I mention that there might be giveaways ;-)
I don't think this reveals too much other than it is red , white and blue ;-) I am also now signed up for a Think Christmas blog hop which takes place July30 to August 3rd. and the icon is on my sidebar for that one as well.I have made a start on those blocks too but won't show you just yet .
I am linking up today to the Needle and Thread Network ,be sure to stop by and see what others have been up to this week. Thanks for the visit .

One Christmas Item a Month
It is that time of the month again , June sure seemed to disappear . I actually had to scramble today to finish off these two little items for my Christmas box , Both stitcheries that I have shown earlier in the month are now finished projects .
The large pincushion on the left was a Friday Freebie pattern from Kaaren of the The Painted Quilt , a fun little project and I finished it off with some rickrack along the edge . The little tag was also a free pattern but I do not have the link for that handy , sorry . Then the other little pincushion I may have shown before but I don't think I have , anyway this was a block from a mini quilt that I had made and I found the colors blended too much so rather than throw it out I made this very tiny pincushion :-)
Thanks to Narelle of Pins and Whiskers for hosting this monthly event , it does keep a person thinking about Christmas . Thanks for the visit and guess what , the sun is shining :-)
